Your agent’s web fetch,
minus the fat.

fats reads the pages your agent’s built-in fetch can’t, or reads badly, and hands back a short outline the agent reads one section at a time. One binary, your own provider key, zero tracking.

How it works

Three commands to a better-read web

  1. Step 1

    Install one binary

Prebuilt for macOS, Linux and Windows. No runtime, no daemon, no browser.

    brew install fatsearch/tap/fatsearch
  2. Step 2

    Add a key, or don’t

Without one, fats reads what plain HTTP gets. Any one Oxylabs or Bright Data key unlocks JS pages and walls.

    fats setup
  3. Step 3

    Hand it to your agent

One MCP tool, or the CLI straight from the shell. Same commands either way.

claude mcp add fats -- fats mcp
Built for agents

Small output. Nothing hidden.

Every behaviour can be inspected from the CLI: fats, fats stats, fats config, dry:true.

  • Plain first. Your provider only when the page needs it.

Every page starts with a free HTTP request. A JS shell, captcha or wall moves it up to your own key, hedged so a slow provider doesn’t stall the agent.

  • Cached on disk

Pages live in a local cache for up to an hour. Re-reads take milliseconds and cost nothing.

    fats u1#4
  • Loss guard

Prices, dates and numbers survive the cleaning. Anything dropped is counted, never silent.

    0 of 63 numbers pruned
  • Search and GitHub

Web search returns ids your agent opens on demand. GitHub repos come back ranked by stars.

    fats gh rust markdown
  • PDFs and local files

PDFs come back one section per page. HTML, Markdown, CSV, JSON and stdin work the same way.

    fats ./report.pdf
  • Zero telemetry

No account and no server of ours. Your keys stay on your machine, and the code is MIT or Apache-2.0.

    fats config
Honest limits

What it doesn’t do yet

Each one prints a ! row that says what’s missing and what to do. Never silence.

  • OCR for scanned PDFs! no_text
  • DOCX / XLSX! not_in_v1 zip
  • Semantic match (needs a local model)! not_in_v1
  • Remote MCP over HTTP / OAuthstdio only
  • Pages behind a loginstay behind it

Give your agent a lighter web.

Free and open source. Bring any one key, or none.
